Today’s the day! I thought it would never come and it was eons away, but it’s here! Countless hours of work later and it’s official, I can call myself Angie Moon: Published Author. Crime of the Century has been all I’ve been talking about lately on social media and that’s because it’s always been on my mind for the last two years. I never want to offer my readers anything less than the best so I made sure to put all my energy into this book from the content inside it to the artistic approach I took coming up with the book cover. Writing the book was a journey and the content is a storytelling journey through classic rock and counterculture history, as well as history in general. We’re talking about the cultural beginning and end of the 60s: from the JFK assassination to the Tate-LaBianca murders to Altamont to Kent State, it’s insane how classic rock was just a couple degrees of separation from or was part of all of these historic events. The 60s was a big theme in all of this, and it’s where my classic rock obsession began. The 60s will always be my favourite decade for music and aesthetically too thanks to Austin Powers and The Beatles.
“Ain’t That Good News!”
First, let’s start with some good news! Hold onto your hats, 20% of the first print run of Crime of the Century has been sold, so that means they’re making their way from England to their new loving homes instead of languishing in a warehouse or my living room. This has exceeded my expectations and I want to thank everyone who has bought the book for their support. I really hope you enjoy the book. So far, I’ve heard great things from people who’ve read the book. If you’ve bought a copy and enjoyed reading it, please leave a rating or a review on Goodreads and Amazon if you can, it only takes a couple seconds and it helps me so much. Not everyone knows about The Diversity of Classic Rock and I want Crime of the Century to reach as many readers as possible. I think it definitely has the potential for mass mainstream appeal because of the classic rock storytelling approach. This isn’t just a book about rock and roll and murder, it’s a book about people and if you like reading about people’s lives and the stories behind them, then this is the book for you! Whether you’re a classic rock expert, new listener, or someone who isn’t even into it, you’ll get an education.
With this news, I am feeling confident that Volume 2 of Crime of the Century will be viable. I have so many more classic rock and true crime stories to share with you and I can’t wait to write part 2! But first, I need to focus on promoting Crime of the Century Volume 1.
Why buying from Amazon or a bookshop is good, actually:
One thing I notice that puts people off of buying my book directly through me is the high shipping cost, especially for overseas fans. Within the UK, shipping is actually quite cheap and within Europe, shipping costs aren’t too bad, but as soon as you leave the continent, that’s when the price really skyrockets! Sadly I don’t control Royal Mail’s pricing and I’m charging what they charge and also incorporating other hidden costs that you may not think about like the cost of the book mailers; the cost of shipping the books to my house; and the time it takes for me to sign your book, pack it, and ship it. As stated on this page where I talk about the cost of the book, my rates are quite competitive.
Keep in mind I’m an independent author, not a multibillion dollar corporation that can afford to eat shipping costs or gets subsidised shipping because of economies of scale. I have bills to pay and I deserve to be paid fairly for my work.
Regardless, wherever you purchase my book, a sale is a sale and by buying my book on Amazon or Bookshop.org, you’re helping support my work and helping me boost Crime of the Century in the algorithm, thereby introducing my book to new readers who might not know The Diversity of Classic Rock. Don’t forget to leave a review for the book too if you enjoyed it!
Special offers on the horizon?
If you’re an American and you really want a signed copy but you’re on a budget, you’re in luck! I’m originally from the US and usually I go back to the US once a year to visit family and once a year my parents come to visit me in England. So that means I can offer a cheaper shipping rate, plus you get a signed book and you can directly support me with all the book proceeds going to me! It’s win-win! I’ll announce when these promotions happen on social media, so make sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for all the latest updates.
If you want the anime:
This blog post is the manga, lots of extra info that I couldn’t fit into a short video, but if you prefer it in video format, here you go! This video is available on TikTok and YouTube Shorts too, in case you don’t use Instagram.
As always, thank you for the support. With the books flying off the shelves, order your copy of Crime of the Century soon. You don’t wanna miss out on the most comprehensive classic rock and true crime tome out there!
Love,
Angie
